We are testing your SourceAnywhere on Windows now. It seems to have a satisfying performance so far. Now we've got a question about this product:

Is it possible to run your SourceAnywhere on a Linux box? We have a sourcesafe database on Windows and want to check in/out files from a remote Linux box. I'm just wondering if this is possible.

Yes. SourceAnyWhere Client (Professional Edition) can run on Linux. Besides the Windows Client, SourceAnyWhere provides a Java Client that can run on any platform that JVM runs, including Linux, Mac, Unix, etc.

SAW Java Client can be downloaded from:

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

You can follow the steps below to run SourceAnywhere for VSS Client on Linux:
1.Download JDK version 1.4.2.8 or above from http://www.sun.com and install it
2.Set Java environment for running the java applications (including *.jar). For more information, please refer to: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/jre/install-linux.html.
3.You can open the Console and go to the folder where the Dynamsoft SAW for VSS java client is installed, then perform the command: java -jar SAWforVSS.jar.

Thanks.

Sincerely yours,
