We use visual studio 2008. Our web solution have couple of projects. Whenever i try to build any of the project somehow the solution is automatically getting checked out to me. This is really annoying because everytime we have to undocheckout so that it doenst cause a problem to others.. The same is the case with other users. Anyhelp is really appreciated/

The solution will be checked out when any modification is going to be applied on it. To check whether the solution has been changed after building, you may try to diff the solution file stored in source control with the local copy.

Thanks for the reply. Actually, the solution is getting checked out when am trying to just build the solution and am not doing any edits to any file.. Even if i edit, only the corresponding file is getting checked out and thats normak behaviour. Generally whenever we make any changes to business class we have to build the class file and then proceed. so what i dont understand is why is the solution getting checkedout unnecessarily whenever i build any project..

Did you try to compare the solution file (.sln) in source control with the local copy? If not, please try the Show Differences command to see if there is any difference between these two files.
