Post subject: SAW (4.1) client "forgot" that I had checked files
PostPosted: Mon Sep 26, 2005 5:09 am
I left my VB IDE with an open project during the weekend. When I tried to select "check in" from the popup menu, SAW responded with "You don't have any files checked out" and removed all the red check marks.
I exited VB and reopened the vbp file, and the checked out files were still checked out. This time I could check in like I wanted.

If it should make a difference, my VPN connection (where the SAW server is) might have been disconnected an reconnected between the open of the vbp file and my first check-in attempt.

edit: tried to rephrase subject without any success

Hi njal,

This is because your VPN connection was disconnected when you tried to do the checkin.

In this case, SAW IDE will be unable to determine the status of the files.

Thanks.

Hi Robert,

If you read my post again and add the missing 'd' in "... an(d) reconnected...", you will see that I was not disconnected when I tried to checkin, but I had been disconnected and (re)connected after I opened the VB project.

Hi njal,

When the network connection is disconnected and reconnected, although the Network Connection is reestablished, the Socket Connection between SAW client and SAW server is broken.

When you try to checkin the checked out files, SAW IDE detects the socket connection is lost and returns an error. That is why you see the checkout status is gone in the IDE.

If you do the Refresh Status in IDE or do the checkin again, the status will be shown correctly, since SAW will reestablish the socket connection.

In SAW 4.2, this behavior is improved. When SAW detects an error, it does not return an error, but tries to reestablish the socket connection. For your case, SAW 4.2 will continue to work just like the connection was never lost.

So please upgrade to SAW 4.2.

Thank you.
