 Post subject: Problems checking out through Visual Studio 2005

I'm using VSS 2005 along with Visual Studio 2005, and I just started encountering a problem when checking out files through Visual Studio.

If I check out through studio:
1. Everything slows to a crawl. Any source control related action takes a couple minutes to execute and ends with a Network Not Found error. However, the network is available and I can navigate to working and sourcesafe database folders just fine.
2. When I open up VSS explorer to try to figure out what's going on, the file I attempted to check out does not show up as checked out and shows a bizarre Date-Time of 1/01/70 12:00a
3. If I try to check out said file through VSS to get everything to match, as I click and wait, eventually I get the message that the file is already checked out to a different location. ??

If I skip studio and check out through VSS as the first step everything is fine.
It is also not specific to any one file, I can repeat the error.

I've been working with the same software/configuration for about a year with no problems and haven't changed any options in studio or vss. Could this be network or anti-virus related? ... I'm stuck, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Nick,

You may stop anti-virus and try VSS actions in Viusal Studio again to see if it makes any difference.

I think this issue could be related with network.

It is possible that the file in VSS explorer is not up to date when you check. Please try refreshing.

You may also take a look at the following article and re-check if your configuration is OK.
