Hello, I open a new post about a problem with our

Product : SA for VSS 5.3.1
Database : VSS 6


Data looks to be fine after analyze.exe tool run.

Unfortunalty for a file History can be viewed but trying to get a previous version or a difference between versions we get

"File proc.sql does not retain old versions of itself"

Do you have any idea about the cause of the problem ?

Please check the "store only latest version" option in the file properties dialog of VSS which causes the loss of file history information.

Hello, I'm posting a reply in this old topic, because it happened again that a file got the property to not store versions, keeping only the last one.
That file was on 122 versions, and normally all of them were available since a long time.

Suddently it becomes available with last version only, VSS was not able to retrieve any other version than the last (122), while SA client was able to retrieve 120, 121 and 122.

After SA service restart, also the SA client is able to get only the last one.

Now I've removed the option to keep only last version fronm VSS. (We need history track)

Questions:

- is known if VSS or SA could change this option itself, maybe due to a bug or any action ?
- is there a chance in your opinion to be able to get the older versions now ?

VSS or SA does not change the option itself. Someone must have changed it.

If the history is lost in the VSS database, we will not be able to get the lost older versions.
