maintenance on SQL SCM database

SourceSafe has utilities that repair and compress the SourceSafe datasets. Does anyone know if SCM Anywhere has something similar? Does the SCM SQL database require any maintenance? Does it need to be compressed periodically?

Hi R. Lehman,

You can use the backup tool of SQL Server to back up SCMAnywhere database (how to backup a database in SQL Server).

Being stored in SQL Server, SCMAnywhere database is much more stable then the file-system SourceSafe database. However, it's still recommended you do backup periodically.

I understand about doing backups using SQL Server tools. I was concerned that the SQL Server tables would get fragmented like in SourceSafe and would have to be compressed. Is this a concern when using SCM Anywhere?

No, you don't need to concern this when using SCM Anywhere.
