Hi All:

We are facing few problems in VSS 6.0 d.

Our Team is working in a .Net (Visual Studio 2008) Application using VSS 6.0 as the Source Control

While adding the source code files into vss, the following messages are popped up;

1. Invalid file name "... .datasource"
2. Invalid Source Safe Syntax :"$/....................../DataSource"

(... indicates path )
Note: The File name(s) did not include symbols like %, ; etc.

There are 9 such Data Source files in the Application, and we couldn't add those to VSS 6.0

Is there any such limitation in VSS 6.0?

Do we need to upgrade to VSS 2005?

Hi David,

It seems that your VSS Database is corrupted. Please try running the VSS Analyze tool to see if it can fix the problem.

Thanks for the reply.

I did run VSS Analyze tool but even then it gives the same error.

One thing i found is ".datasource" files are autogenerated by VisualStudio 2005;

As Vss 6.0 is in VisualStudio 2003 package, I think these files are not recognized; this is just my view..

Please try adding the datasource files through VSS Client to see if they can be added successfully. And you may try a higher version VSS Analyze tool to check the integrity of your VSS Database again.

Unfortunately, we dont have VSS 2005 at the moment. so, we couldn't Analyze through higher version.

We've tried to add the .datasource files through Vss client, not from .net application and faced the error.
