Hi,
I am getting Project with Labels (Latest & Older Versions), I have found 2 Isuues with Getting Project from Labels

1) If Label is Numeric Value , always it gets the latest version
2) If the Label Is String , some specific files are downloaded , most of the files does not downloaded. This issue happens when there are many recursive directories and large amount of files. and also gc error comes at java client.

I am facing very big problem due to this. I require to get history files for my product build.

I an using Java Command Based Client on Linux with jdk1.4.

Thanks in Advance , Looking forward to your support soon.

Thank You.

>1) If Label is Numeric Value , always it gets the latest version

Due to the limitation of VSS API, when the label is Numeric Value, VSS will take it as version number and get that version of item. When there is no corresponding version number, VSS will get the latest version.

To avoid this issue, you can change the existing numeric labels through VSS History Explorer| Details.

>2) If the Label Is String , some specific files are downloaded , most of the files does not downloaded. This issue happens when there are many recursive directories and large amount of files. and also gc error comes at java client.

Can you be more specific with the "gc error"?

Did you change the system time of your computer after you applied the label? SourceAnywhere for VSS gets the version number according to the time that the label is set and performs Get on that version. If you change the system time, SourceAnywhere for VSS may get confused and the issue as you described may happen.

Please let us know if this is the case so we can look into it more closely.

Thanks.

It is not specific that gc error is always there, some time it is there and some times it is not there. I have checked my time from the machine which i am getting the source, and also i have checked Dynasoft server time.

Irrespective of time and gc error, the java client gets few files and many files are not got from server. What would be the possible cause, that i dont know.

We are getting files with label "9.5.4.66". Is there any problem with this label. Please give me more detail, that in which cases java client will not get files from server.

Thank you for quick response,
Narendra shah.

We tried to get a project with the label "9.5.4.66" using SourceAnywhere for VSS Java Command Line Client version 5.3.1.1. It can get the files properly.

Can you please provide us the following information so that we can better pinpoint the cause of the issue?

1. Which version and build of VSS are you using?
2. Which version of SourceAnywhere for VSS are you using?
3. What is your exact JDK version?

Thanks.

Please install Visual SourceSafe SP6 to update your VSS.

JDK version 1.4.2.8 or above is needed for SourceAnywhere for VSS Java environment. Please use a higher version of JDK.

And we recommend you to use the latest version of SourceAnywhere for VSS.

Also, when you performed the GetProject command, did you use the 'r' parameter to get recursively?

Thanks.
