Hi,

I need to use file / project names with multi-byte characters in SAW for VSS.
It is not special....the files are from my client, no way.

I found a topic in this forum saying unicode being supported "in the next version" at the stage of Aug 05, 2008.
However, I couldn't find unicode support or something like it in release notes.....
Is unicode supported in the latest 5.4 already?
Please tell me.

Regards,

Hi Urata,

Would you please let me know which version of SourceSafe you are using? If you are using VSS 8.0, SourceAnywhere for VSS supports Unicode.

If you are using VSS 6.0, due to the limit of the VSS API, the file types: Binary, Unicode (UTF-8), Unicode, and Unicode (Big Endian) in VSS can only be mapped to Binary in SourceAnywhere for VSS. If you like, our developers can work out an internal version of SourceAnywhere for VSS that has the Unicode feature improved.

Thanks.

Hi,

Our VSS server version is 6.0d. I'll try version-up to 8.0.
As far as I know, VSS 8.0 is called VSS 2005 as a product name. Please correct if wrong.

I believe "Unicode support" which you mention includes also file/project names, not only the file contents.

Regards,

Hi Urata,

Yes, VSS 8.0 is called VSS 2005 as a product name.

You are right. Both file/project names and the file contents are included in the Unicode feature.

Thanks.
