Hi There,

Can I implement multiple SAW servers to one VSS server over the local area network?

Thanks,

Francis

Yes. But due to the design SourceSafe API, when SAW server and VSS DB are not on the same machine and if the network between the two servers is not very fast, the performance of SAW degrades somehow.

We recommend you to install the SourceAnywhere for VSS Server on the machine hosting VSS Database. You can create different databases with the same VSS Database path in SourceAnywhere for VSS Server Manager.

Thanks.

What do you mean by creating different databasees with the same VSS Database path in SourceAnywhere for VSS Server Manager?

Can you make an example?

Thanks,

I mean you can create different Database Alias with the same Srcsafe.ini Location in Database window of SourceAnywhere for VSS Server Manager. Then you can manage the User Access, Password Policy, Excluded File Types and Web Projects separately for each database. You can refer to the following online manual for more information: http://www.dynamsoft.com/help/saw/SM_Database.htm

For example, you can create database ?Common 1???and ?Common 2???with the same VSS Database path???C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\VSS\srcsafe.ini???

Thanks.
