For those who need to upgrade to SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4, please follow instructions below:

1. Please uninstall the old version before installing the new one.

2. If you upgrade from SAW 5.x, the license is compatible so you do not need a new license. SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 updates all programs, as listed below:

(Professional Edition)

SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Server
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Cache Server
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Windows GUI Client
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Java GUI Client
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Eclipse Plug-in
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Windows Command Line Client
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Java Command Line Client
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition COM SDK
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Java SDK

SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition adds two plug-ins:

SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition Ant Plug-in
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Professional Edition CruiseControl.NET Plug-in

(Standard Edition)

SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Standard Edition Server
SourceAnywhere for VSS 5.4 Standard Edition Windows Client

Please note SourceAnywhere for VSS version 5.4 client is compatible with version 5.3.2/5.3.1/5.3/5.2 server but not compatible with 5.1/5.0 server. We recommend you upgrade all the programs (both server and client) you are using.

To keep all Server Manager settings in SAW 5.3/5.2/5.1, please backup the "sawvconfigure.ini" which resides in the SourceAnywhere for VSS Server directory before uninstalling SAW 5.3/5.2/5.1, and then copy it back to the same directory after installation of the new version.

To keep all Server Manager settings in SAW 5.0, please backup the "sawconfigure.ini" which resides in the SourceAnywhere for VSS Server directory before uninstalling SAW 5.0, and then copy it back to the same directory and rename it into "sawvconfigure.ini" after installation of the new version.

To keep all Windows GUI Client settings in SAW 5.0, please backup all .saw files under "C:\Documents and Settings\(current logged-in user)\ Application Data \DynamSoft\SourceAnyWhere\" and then copy them back to the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\(current logged-in user)\Dynamsoft\SourceAnywhere for VSS\" after the upgrade.

To keep all Windows GUI Client settings in SAW 5.3/5.2/5.1, please backup all .saw files under "C:\Documents and Settings\(current logged-in user)\Application Data\Dynamsoft\SourceAnyWhere for VSS\" and then copy them back to the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\(current logged-in user)\Dynamsoft\SourceAnyWhere for VSS\" after installation of the new version.

To keep all Windows GUI Client settings in SAW 5.3.2/5.3.1, please backup all .saw files under "C:\Documents and Settings\(current logged-in user)\Dynamsoft\SourceAnyWhere for VSS\" and then copy them back to the same directory after installation of the new version.

3. If you upgrade from SAW 4.x, the license is incompatible and you need new licenses. Please purchase the upgrade first at:
https://www.dynamsoft.com/Secure/SAW_BuyIt.aspx.

If you purchased SAW 4 after July 5th, 2006, this upgrade is FREE. Please write to sales@dynamsoft.com to request the free upgrade.

To keep all Server Manager settings in SAW 4.x, please follow steps below:

1) Backup the "sawconfigure.ini" which resides in the SAW Server directory before uninstalling the old version.

2) The "sawconfigure.ini" file of version 5.x is different from that of any previous version, so after the 5.3.2 installation please convert the "sawconfigure.ini" file (the backup one) using the upgrade utility we provide. The download URL of this upgrade utility is as follows:

For Professional Edition:
http://www.dynamsoft.com/Download/Sourc ... sional.exe

For Standard Edition:
http://www.dynamsoft.com/Download/Sourc ... andard.exe

3) After conversion, copy the "sawconfigure.ini" file back to the same directory and rename it into "sawvconfigure.ini" after installation of the new version.

To keep all Windows GUI Client settings in SAW 4.x, after the upgrade please copy all .saw files under "C:\Documents and Settings\(current logged-in user)\Application Data\Dynamsoft\SourceAnyWhere_4.3\" (or any other previous version number) to the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\(current logged-in user)\Application Data\Dynamsoft\SourceAnywhere for VSS\"

If you encounter any problem during the upgrades, please let us know.

Thanks.

that after installing the Client Upgrade you need to go into visual studio and change the source control provider from SourceAnyWhere5 to SourceAnyWhere for VSS 5.

You should also mention that for Visual Studio 2005 users they will have to open their solution from Source Control after changing the source control provider to SourceAnyWhere for VSS 5 if they want it to actually work.

It was my understanding that this release of SAW would correct that problem.

It has not.

All of the projects in my solution with the exception of the website itself still show as newly added files with the yellow plus sign icon next to them. These projects have been part of this solution for more than a year.

After upgrading to SAW 5.1 and opening the solution from source control I had expected this problem to go away.

What are your thoughts on this?

Can you remove the files with problem from the source control and solution first, then add them back to the solution and source control to see?

Thanks.
