According to your FAQ I am supposed to:

2. Set the default gateway of SourceAnywhere for VSS Server to the internal IP of your NAT server.

Where do I set this in SAW?

Thanks!

You need to set the default gateway in the TCP/IP property of your network card.

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply Catherine!

We are using a LAN on our workplace which is behind a router. The router assigns IP addresses to each machine using DHCP. I have installed the Trial SourceAnywhere for VSS Server on a computer in our LAN which has a fixed IP of 192.168.0.102 and the default gateway is set to 192.168.0.1 in the TCP/IP property of the network card. The router has local IP 192.168.0.1.

In the router I am forwarding all calls on port 8877 to the server (192.168.0.102). I am also running the company FTP server on the same machine and have for years successfully forwarded incoming calls on port 21 to the same IP. But for some reason I can't get the SourceAnywhere for VSS client to connect on port 8877. No firewalls installed on the server, nor the client.

The error I get is "Error connecting to <IP> : <Port>".

Thanks!

Please refer to the FAQ item first:

http://www.dynamsoft.com/Products/SAW_F ... connecting

Besides, can you try connecting to the server on the local machine? If it works, please ask your network admin to check the NAT configuration. If not, the service has not been stared, please refer to the FAQ item:

If the problem persists, please feel free to contact us.

Thanks.

What was the resolution for this? I am having the same problem.

Everything works fine for me when I'm VPN in.

We opened the port on the firewall and set up the NAT translation for the port and server IP. It doesn't connect.

I'm not sure what else I can do.

Also the windows firewall is turned off.

The issue should be caused by improper NAT configuration. Would you please double-check the following things:
· The public IP/port of NAT Router is mapped to SourceAnywhere for VSS server IP/port on the NAT server.
· The default gateway of SourceAnywhere for VSS Server machine is set as the internal IP of your NAT server.
· You are using the public NAT IP/port in the SourceAnywhere for VSS Client Connect to Server dialog box.

You can refer to this SourceAnywhere for VSS FAQ entry:
http://www.dynamsoft.com/Products/SAW_FAQ.aspx#HTNAT

Thanks.

We are not using a NAT server. It is part of our Hardware firewall. Does that make a difference?

All of the things you have listed are in place.

The configuration of a NAT server is the same as the NAT service built in a firewall.

This issue is solved through email. The cause of the issue is " a miss typo for the NAT translation.". :)

Thanks.
