So, I have a file that has been deleted. This file had many versions prior to being deleted. Now, I am trying to use the sawscmd.exe and the GetOldVersionFile command to get one of the previous versions of this file.

However, I get a Item does not exist item. This same command works fine with files that have not been deleted.

So, how do I get a deleted file by using the command line?

Thanks a lot.

Hi mchevett,

To get the old version of a deleted file, on the premise it's not purged, you can choose one of the following ways:

1. You can recover it prior to getting its old version.

Log into GUI Client, right-click the file's parent project and click Properties -> Deleted Items. After recovering the file, you can use "GetOldVersionFile" command to achieve your goal.

2. If you don't want to recover the file, in the GUI Client, you can locate to its parent folder and get according version of the project. You can use the "Details" button in history explorerto check which version includes the version of file you need.

Thanks.

You are saying it is impossible to get the deleted file without using the GUI?

Hi mchevett,

I am afraid so. Currently, the Command Line Client doesn't support recovering deleted files. I have forwarded it to our development team for future improvement.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
