Hi,

Im a first time user so please bear with me. I am curious why the SAWVSS service is so extremely slow first time after the service have been started.

Scenario: 11GB VSS located in DK with SAWVSS installed, clients located in the Philipines on 230ms latency 4Mb bandwith connection to DK. When I do a get latest after starting the service in DK. The service process seems to read the entire VSS database (possibly more than that) before it sends anything to the client. That process takes hours and the team in Philipines cant work while this is going on.

Could someone shed some light on whats going on and if this is intended behaviour? In that case it would be catastrophic to the productivity of our team in the Philipines if the service is unexpectedly restarted.

Thank you in advance
Alex

We've been in contact with Alex via email.

It may be a little slow to get a large project for the first time. After that, it would be much faster since there is cache. Also, SourceAnywhere for VSS comes with delta transfer, fast transfer compressin, cache server and other features to further improve the performance. You can check the article How to improve SourceAnywhere Standalone performance.

Meanwhile, our developers are actively exploring the solutions to improve the performance of the first Get. I'll keep you posted.

Regards,

Our developers have worked out an internal version of SourceAnywhere for VSS (based on v6.2) which greatly improves the performance of first Get and Refresh project list.

You can download the internal version here:
www.dynamsoft.com/download/Support/SAWV ... sional.rar

To use the internal version, please:

1. Download and unzip professional.rar.
2. Stop the service of SourceAnywhere for VSS.
3. Replace SAWVCmd.exe, SAWVSCC.dll and SourceAnywhereforVSS.exe with the new ones in the installation folder of SourceAnywhere for VSS Client.
4. Put the new SAWVService.exe and SAWVServerManager.exe to the installation folder of SourceAnywhere for VSS Server.
5. Put the new SAWVCacheServerManager.exe and SAWVCacheService.exe to the installation folder of SourceAnywhere for VSS Cache Server.
5. If you are using SDK, put SAWVSDK.dll to the installation folder SDK.
6. If you are also using Dreamweaver, put SAWVMXSCC.dll to the \Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration\sourcecontrol folder.
7. Restart the service of SourceAnywhere for VSS.

Please try the internal version and let me know how it works for you.

Regards.
