I need to get a report listing all check-ins since a given date in a certain VSS project. Does VSS have this option? Or do I need to install some plug-ins, and what is it?

You can view the list of all changes made to a project since a certain date. Right-click the project and click Show History. In the Project History Options dialog box, check the "Recursive" and "Include file history" and fill in the "From:" date.
