Hello,

When running an analyze on a project I get the following error.


"The file ~$aaaaaa is not a valid SourceSafe physical database file. It must be renamed to a file with an extension or moved to another directory outside the database."


When I run Analyze fix with the parameters it suggests the error still remains.

I am using VSS 2005 that has been updated. I did at one time encounter the O/Data... error but since updating that has been resolved, however now the above has cropped up.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jonathan,

This is a known bug in VSS2005. Analyze displays the incorrect error message for each label that was applied to the database root folder $/.

A quick solution to the problem is to rename the physical file for the
database root to use capital leters ("rename <vss_database>\data\a\aaaaaaaa->
AAAAAAAA") and Analyze will stop reporting the false corruption message

Even after trying your solution the issue remains. I'm stumped however if I ever find a solution I'll post again.
