Hi there,

I evaluate your project against another similar utility, and I'm getting following error when trying to get the project tree (either for the first time, or by pressing refresh):

This command only works on projects.

I upgraded SourceSafe on the server side to 6.0d and the error is still there .

Please help!

Hi,

It is likely this issue is caused by VSS database problem. You can use 'Analyze VSS DB' under VSS directory to check the integrity of the VSS database.

Also, could you please give us more detailed info about this issue so that we can look into it?

It looks like our VSS database may indeed be corrupted.
I'm waiting for our admins to make full analysis and cleanup.

The steps I do to reproduce it are:
1) Connect to server
2) Choose VSS database alias and type login
3) It starts "Updating project tree of $/..."
4) then it fails displaying "This command only works on projects." in the status log window
5) project tree is empty
6) then it starts "Updating file list of $/..."
7) then it shows files residing directlyunder root

We are unable to reproduce the problem.

You can check the SAW Server log file that may provide you with useful information.

Please let us know the VSS database analysis results and then we'll further investigate into the problem if neccessary.

Well... Analysis showed we had about 40 errors like this:

The project _ScriptLibrary references a child whose physical file (RTDCAAAA) is missing or corrupted.

The log file doesn't indicate any issues... Is there any way to find out which path of the project tree causes this error (an extended client logging mode or something)?

Can SAW get one level of the tree at a time instead of loading the whole tree at the beginning?

You can ask your admin to try to fix the VSS database using ANALYZE.EXE. Please make sure you've done the backup of VSS database before the fix.

If your VSS database can be fixed, this issue might be solved.


For the above question, currently SAW loads the whole project tree.
