We have a situation where ACCESS crashes when building a new mdb file from SCM. When we reopen the mdb file with ACCESS we find a temporary object. If we attempt delete the temporary object (e.g. a form) ACCESS crashes.

We discovered that this occurs when someone checks in a FORM that may have become corrupted. When this occurs we are forced to upload the entire project into SCM. We lose all of our history changes when we are forced to do this.

This has problem has occurred twice.

If we open SCM and delete the suspected object (e.g. a form) the SCM project folder then we can then rebuild a mdb file without ACCESS crashing.

The computer that is checking in the form that is corrupted using ACCESS 2003 running WINDOWS 7. All of the other development computers are using ACCESS 2002 running WINDOWS XP.

Hi lehmanra,

We didn't get the crash problem before. To help us better pinpoint the cause the problem, would you please tell me more about this issue?

1. Do you mean you only got the problem when you checked in a form using ACCESS 2003 on Windows 7 and then open it in ACCESS 2002 on Windows XP?

2. Do you mind sending me a problematic database for testing purpose? My email address is Catherine.sea@dynamsoft.com.

Also, it would be helpful if we can have an online meeting with which you can share your screen. If it is convenient for you, you can contact our team via Live Help first:

sequence of events.

1. project added to SCM from computer A with ACCESS 2002 running Windows XP
2. computer B has ACCESS 2003 running Windows 7
3. computer A and two other computers with ACCESS 2002 running Windows XP check in and out objects in SCM with no problems.
4. mdb database built on computer B from SCM
5. computer B checks out a form object and performs edits
6. computer B checks in a the form object.
7. computer A attempts to do an object refresh and ACCESS 2002 crashes
8. computer A attempts to build a new mdb database from SCM and ACCESS 2002 crashes

This scenario is reproducible.

Hi lehmanra,

Thanks for your detailed steps. To better pinpoint the cause of the problem, shall we have an online meeting during 6:30 PM ~ 2:30 AM PST? Our developers will also join the meeting and check the issue together. If it is convenient for you, you can contact our support team via Live Help first:

What file(s) does SCM Anywhere store on the C drive?

We have a server running SQL Server 2008 on a 64-bit processor. The SQL database files (including SCM Anywere) are on the H drive.

The C drive is low on disk space. It has about 100MB remaining of an over 200GB drive. However when I attempted to load a test mdb database into SCM while the remaining disk space on the C drive was < 50MB, SCM failed. It issued a fatal error that it was out of disk space.

This is why I am asking what files and/or temporary tables does SCM Anywhere store on the C drive when you load a new mdb database into it?

Thanks,

Richard Lehman

Hi Richard,

The configure files of SCM Anywhere, as well logs, are stored at "C:\Users\{user}\Dynamsoft\SCM Anywhere Standalone".

The temp files are stored at "C:\Users\LYQ\Dynamsoft\SCM Anywhere Standalone\Temp" by default. You can go to "Tools -> Options -> General -> Temporary Files" to set/change the path.

Please keep me updated on this. For the crash issue, we are not able to reproduce the problem on our side. It would be helpful if we could have online meeting.
